established by Steve du Toit in September 2011.&nbsp; Whilst practicing as an attorney from 1983 until 2004 Steve acquired an extensive knowledge of commercial law and the drafting of commercial contracts, which knowledge and experience he has since applied to construction law in which he now an acknowledged specialist.&nbsp; In addition to his BA and LLB degrees, Steve has completed the Specialisation in Construction Law and the Arbitration courses through the Arbitration Association (Southern Africa), and is an accredited adjudicator and arbitrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 has-small-font-size\">Steve has extensive knowledge and experience in the interpretation and application of the various generic construction agreements in use in South Africa and neighbouring countries, these being the JBCC, GCC, FIDIC and NEC contracts.&nbsp;This has proved to be invaluable in the many diverse construction projects in which he has been involved, ranging from shopping centres and multistorey office and residential developments through to schools, hospitals, water works and road and freeway infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">In the process he has built up his client base to include many of the listed and private commercial and residential property developers, national construction companies, SOC\u2019s and national, provincial and municipal departments. &nbsp;In addition he has for many years conducted both public and inhouse training seminars on the JBCC and the GCC agreements as well as on aspects of construction law.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px;line-height:1.4\">Steve has been responsible for the development of SDT Consulting in the following spheres:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Advising developers and consultants on the setting up of construction projects with recommended amendments to the standard form contracts to meet specific project requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Assisting contractors and subcontractors in assessing contractual risks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Preparing and opposing construction claims for extensions of time and payment of additional costs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Representing parties in mediations, adjudications and arbitrations arising from construction disputes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Presiding over arbitrations, adjudications and mediations of construction
